Had to replace battery. Lost some if the computer functions. How long should it take mechanic to reprogram computer

Could take hours depending on how many computers are involved. The software must be downloaded through an internet connection. That's one of the tricks GM designed in to cost unsuspecting owners money after the sale. Simply replacing the battery is no longer a do-it-yourself project without at the very least using some type of memory saver device.
