The car turns on and everything like normal, but when I press on the brake and attempt to shift the stick, it won't budge, it's like locked into Parking. Someone said it could be that the battery is kind of weak, but we've checked the battery and it seems to be all good. Someone else said it might need brake fluid. Not sure what to do.

Brake fluid? No. If the battery can turn on the brake lights, it is strong enough.

This is going to sound like a stupid question but I need to know. Do the brake lights turn on when you depress the brake pedal?

I ask because the park lock solenoid is powered through the brake light switch. If there is a problem at the switch, it won't release. Also, check fuses to make sure they are good.
