Another PT cruiser owner said they had similar problem and it was the heating core.

That is on the passenger side of the engine compartment with the core being inside the car.

You have a coolant leak dripping on something hot. Add coolant till you can get to a shop to have it checked for you. Constant overheating can cause engine damage and add tons of money to the repair bill.
