Warning light: wrench with wheels and axles I have a '06 Chevy TrailBlazer EXT. On my way home from work, a dashboard warning light came on, a wrench and outline of the 4 wheels and the axles. The front wheels are turned to the right, if that matters. What does this symbol mean? I love this site!

This warning light mean your traction control is no working probably due to one of the ABS wheel speed sensors not working. To be sure here is a video that will show you how to pull the codes to see which one is the problem.

Here is a test you can do by hand if you don't have a scanner.

This will give you an idea of what you are in for when changing the sensor

Once repaired the light should just go off with no need to clear it. It could also be the steering wheel position sensor which go out as well. Please let us know what happens.

The StabiliTrak work light comes on when the vehicle is cold, and normally only when going from reverse to drive. If I restart the vehicle after the light comes on it will normally not come back on. Is there a sensor that needs to be replaced?

It sounds like you have a front wheel bearing hub going out which makes the sensor work work sometimes.

My 2006 Trailblazer cut off while I was driving and then the stabilitrak light came on. What does that mean?

The vehicle stalled, and then the traction control warning lamp or 'service stabilitrak' message appeared? Did the vehicle restart, and what does the vehicle do now? I would speculate that the stall is the main concern, and the stabilitrak light was another warning of the same fault. Since the traction control system relies on electronic throttle, it could indicate a problem with that system. If it now is starting and driving fine, I would have it scanned for powertrain codes. This can be done at no cost at a local auto parts chain that offers the service, which most of the chains now do. If it was an intermittent fault, it should still have a code in the system. Powertrain codes are the only ones that a code reader of this type will obtain. If there are no powertrain codes, you may have to seek further assistance, and have the ABS system checked for faults.
