Original ecm had water damage, was adviced to replace, I've sourced a second hand ecm from a scrap shop(too costly at the agents, the vehicle in question is a 2006 toyota quantum 2.7vvti, I have replaced ecm, engine runs for a few seconds then dies, please advice thank you Slim

You need to have it flashed by the dealer, if it can take one. On new models, new pcm are the only way to go.
