I in fact loosened, and removed battery terminals although with the battery under the back seat I am having a little trouble buying the fact that temperature under the seat could be the culprit here although I did it.
Now trouble is I will not know if in fact this works until summer comes.
I do have a battery tester around (just can't find it yet) to test draw. It just does nothing in summer, no click, nothing. Wait fifteen minutes and it starts.
winter starts every time no matter how far the trip. Temperature gauge is always in same place, summer and winter.
I had been told there are two ignition control modules. Does anyone know their location and the problems they may cause if bad. The thing I always thought on electronics is they are good or bad. And temperature affecting them and then working, then not working is fairly uncommon.
Anyone have knowledge about my car's ignition control modules and the location and if in fact they have this issue? Summer, just around the corner. Help please.

have the same problem?

When you say it wont start do you mean the engine is not cranking over? Because if not these cars had a problem with the starter going out which kind of fits what you are saying.

Please run down this guide and report back.

Ok here is the part you are missing. In the SUMMER even a short drive, shut down go back 15 minutes later and NOTHING. No click, no crank. WINTER time can drive forever up to full temp. Shut off, come back, zoom, starts every single time. Not the starter agreed? I am told there are 1or 2 ignition control modules. Must be far enough away from the engine not to get engine heat-soak. SUMMER when warm over 55 will not start. WINTER starts ALL the time. ALL the time w/o fail.

Hey Mr, Shade,

The ignition models will have nothing to do with the starter. But there is a starter relay is which I would check out first, here is a wiring diagram and a guide to help you check out the problem when it happens.

Please run this test and get back to us so we can continue helping you.

Best, Ken

In the summer, even a short drive, shut down for fifteen minutes, no click, nothing. Wait fifteen to twenty minutes it will not start.
Winter never an issue.
Shop said starter, I say no way, would be all the time. Winter drive an hour, shut down, where it would not start in summer, it has no problem. Starts every single time so there has to be some electronic control module that gets hot in summer, cools down and then will let car start after fifteen to twenty minutes.
In the Winter the problem never happens ever no matter how long of a drive. Go and gas up, starts where in summer I would be sitting waiting.
What electronic control module would make this happen? I do not have electronic test tools to diagnose ( I am an electrician thirty years but not autos) I have Cadillac shop manual with no help there. Summer is coming, I have had to lock doors and let run so I do not get an unwanted fifteen to twenty minutes time-out to listen to satellite radio and maybe be blocking someone from pumping gas or whatever, embarrassment follows, just sitting, waiting. Help before winter which I used to hate ends and we go back to old let it run deal.

Check battery terminal ends for cleanliness and battery for condition including load test. Most places check for free. Especially check battery ground under right rear seat. Battery should have at least 770CCA which should be on top of battery. You may also have to drop this off in summer to a mechanic so he can try to repeat the problem.

I wish I could say yes I did, but I fell and tore my rotator cuff completely and have surgery scheduled. I can honestly say that I have never had pain like this in my life EVER. I am trying to get a friend to do it as moving even a bit the wrong way brings me to my knees. I'm giving you yes just because it makes far more sense than any other. Now here comes Summer again and. You know what. I was hoping it would be resolved by now. Thank you and when I do find out, you will know.

The starter works intermittently. Is the starter bad, I did a battery test and is good?

If the battery was tested by a machine which includes a load test and was rated good then it may be the starter. A pro can test to see how many amps it is drawing to figure that out if it draws to many amps then it will need replacing or auto parts can test there. However you have to pull the intake manifold off to reach it. It may have aflat spot on armature or solenoid is going bad causing problem.
