My 2005 Chevy Silverado (4.8L v8 4x4) blower motor resistor and connector fried. It used to be just the '4' and '5' settings didnt work. Yesterday all speeds crapped out and i no longer have any A/C /Heat. i recieved a letter in the mail a while back stating that if my vehicle is under 10 years or 150,000 miles (which it 'barely' is 147xxxmiles) i can bring it in and all parts will be replaced free of charge. Tomorrow morning im going to give a local dealership a call.
Now to my question, if i contact them tomorrow, i feel as though they're going to give me the run around. Now, having experience with GM, and they're complete disregard for their customers, IF they do, is there a way i can temporarily fix this problem? IE connecting each individual wire to the prongs on the resistor? Assuming the black wire in the harness is the ground, that one wires connector inside the plug from the a/c control is completely rotten. On both the resistor and the plug that connects to it. Im looking for a temporary fix, as its the 1st of the month and funds are low until next payday, when i can purchase the appropriate parts. Im quite desperate as i live in Houston, and its already getting back into the 80's, and being without A/C isnt really an option!
