My 2005 Rendezvous emits a very strong raw fuel odor when started on cold mornings. The smell is strongest when the defroster fan is cranked up to maximum. Four mechanics (2 at the dealer) have failed to correct this worsening problem. When looking at the 3400 LA1 engine with the hood open I noticed a small can-like object on the right-hand side under three spark-plug wires was "wet" - it was covered with gasoline. The fuel doesn't spill onto the ground but that little "can" object is wet. Question - what is that small can-like object? It has a wire connected to the top that runs up and behind the engine.
