My wife started her vehicle after work. The oil light was on. She checked the oil and said that the dipstick was covered. It was way above the fill line. She started the vehicle again. This time, the oil light did not come on. Is there a problem that we need to be worried about or can she go ahead and drive the car as is?

Check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge, if normal replace the oil pressure switch. If abnormal could mean oil pump and/or engine bearing.
