The fuel pump on our 2004 Sable station wagon went bad a couple of years ago. The Ford dealership repaired it 6(!) Times, each time it failed after a few days. This doesn't count the times a fuel pump failed on their bench before they even tried to install it. Then they fixed the control module as well. Then it went 1,000 miles before failing again (but over a year later, voiding the warranty).
Is this a known problem? Should I assume all fuel pumps for that year are defective and give up?
