Recovery guys had to hook up, deflood then start motor, continuously scranking the engine. Eventually started. Failed MOT on minor things but cat readings were erratic then eventually passed. Engine managment light did come on once Changed over starter motor as theother one was burning out. Engine management light went out
The car now is sluggish to start - I suspect again the starter as it was second hand.
The car doesnt start after a run and engine gets very hot. The other day stopped to fll up at petrol station and when tried to start again, cranked over but no firing up. The fuel had indicator was below zero, and DSP light was on and Oil pressure was at zero when ignition on. Ten minuites later tried cranking and it hesitantly started, fuel went to half full and oil pressure just above mid point. On the drive back home a sweet smell but nothing too major
Could this be engine temperature sensor is faulty or cat converter is faulty? Or could it be anyting else like coil and leads? Advice would be appreciated. By the way - acceleration is good, just been serviced and UK car

I would have the alternator and battery tested.to determine the root cause of the slow start issue.the sweet smell could be an antifreeze leak or possible heater core issue.any steam getting into the car.turn on the defrosters and see if the windshield fogs.

thanks for the response
the battery is fine and alternator seems to be charging the battery
the starting has problems when the cars been driven then you pull into a service station and try start again. I can only suspect its the dreaded hot start issue due to compression, or the coolant teperature sensor/ engine temperature sensor. I know the second hand starter motor is not perfect
im going for a compression test this weekend and ill see whats result

Electrical problem
2004 Mazda RX8 Two Wheel Drive Manual 31000 miles

it starts and runs fine, but when driven after about 5minutes the check engine light blinks at random RPM's but still runs fine. Then at idle it stops blinking. Tried coils those are new. And the plugs are new also. What is wrong?

Hi,
Please can anyone help me?
I've got a Mazda RX8 2004 231ps manual. I've stopped the car for about 5 to 6 weeks and it got flooded. I've manage to start the car but now the warning engine light is on and sometimes the coolant light comes on as well. Also I feel the car loosing power. I've done the diagnostic and it comes up with code P0562 which is System voltage low. I've cleaned the spark plugs, I've tested the battery, even known the battery light never came on, and I've tested the alternator as well but everything seems fine.

Does anyone knows what else could it be?

Ok, how high did the water get in the car?

Did you change all fluids prior to starting?

Water in the gas tank could be an issue and will fail the fuel pump

The temperature on dashboard seems fine but on diagnostic reader it went up to 101 Deg C 213.8 Deg F.

Sorry what do you mean with change all fluids? I just check the coolant water and engine oil.

How do I know if there is water in the gas tank?

I have a 2004 mazda rx8. A check engine light came on the other day and the car feels slugish. I borrowed a can obd2 scan tool and it shows a code of p2096 and p2070. What does this mean I cant find this code in the directory. What does these codes mean

I believe you have an evap code. Check simple things like a bad gas cap, bad fuel.

Hello,

This code is for the throttle actuator sensor which is at the pedal. These sensors go out all the time I would try a new one then clear the codes to recheck.

Electrical problem
2004 Mazda RX8 Two Wheel Drive Manual 82000 miles

My UK RX8 engine light is on in my dash board, I have had a diagnostic report done on the car and the fault Code is: P0410 And it sais there is a fault with the SECONDARY AIR INJECTION SYSTEM!

PLEASE can anyone help me out as my mechanic and also my local Mazda Dealership have no idea what this is! Can anyone help me?

I can't believe Mazda doesn't know what this is, but I will send info via email, it's in chart form and won't post well.
Air is blown into the exhaust either at or before the converter to aid in the elimination Nox in the exhaust fumes. The pump, hose, converter, or sensor/computer(PCM) any of them could cause this code.
