I have a 2003 dodge neon sxt 2.0L with 133000 miles and the temperature gauge goes to hot and the bell will start ringing.

Check if the radiator fan is turning on.then stop the engine and let it cool down. How quickly does this occur, within minutes of starting the cold engine? After driving at highway speed?
