I have a 2002 Ford Taurus Wagon. The fuel pump is not working, I disconnected the hose on the pump side of the fuel filter, turned on the ignition and no fuel came out. I believe I have to drop the fuel tank to get to the pump which I believe is mounted in the tank, removable from the top of the tank when I drop it.

Do I need to disconnect the wires to the fuel pump and gas gauge before dropping the tank?

Yes lower tank some to gain easier access. May need a fuel line decoupler tool
