I have a ford focus zx5 2002 and what happens is when I have the defrost on the idle seems to get lower than normal rpms. This occurs approximately every 10 seconds more or less and the rpm then goes back to normal quickly. It makes a click sound to let me know its going to do so. This happens when the vehicle is getting warmer.

That's because the AC compressor is cycling on and off as it is designed to.
