Small island, few rds, low speeds, gas mileage woeful (38L/100Km). Have a leaky lower RHS manifold gasket, & fast idle problem. Small coolant cap nr firewall pops off, coolant over engine, smokes up (before fast idle problem started). Cap looks a bit perished but it still fits on fairly tight. No overheating, oil in water or water in oil. No one on web mentions this part, cant see it on Ford sites, but if it was lost (Ive been lucky & found it each time, usually on motor but once on ground) coolant will go & major problems cld then result.

Check for ahead gasket leal an da leaky manifold gasket will give it a high idle. Replace gas cap as i'm assuming that is what you are talking about.
