Finish the question please. Do you mean the volt gauge went all the way down to the left? If you suspect a charging system problem, use an inexpensive digital voltmeter to measure battery voltage while the engine is running, and measure the voltages on the two small nuts on the back of the alternator, again, while the engine is running.
