My avalanche over heats when I tow but only up hills no mater what size of hill

radiator is too small. for towing, you need a bigger radiator to keep the motor cool.

I had the same problem with the same avalanche. I replaced the fan clutch and everything works great.

fan clutch has an effect at idle. it is turned off above idle
