Check for power to the seat motor and the switch. Also, if there is power to the motor, chances are it is bad. If there is no power to the motor, then you need to work backwards checking the wiring to see where the power is lost.

Heres a guide on using a test light, its a great way to test for power

The wiring diagram for your power seat is attached below, it show each motors function

Is there a way to manually move the drivers side seat back when motor dies and seat is stuck in undesirable position? Is there a reset button or a latch that allows one to move it manually without the motor?

If you have voltage to the motors under the seat, the motors have got stuck due to excesive movement. This can occur when the motors uverrun due to switch being held on when the track has reached its end. Try to manually unwind the motor to release the tension and retry.

Unless the battery is weak if not you should be able to adjust the seat with ignition turned to RUN position.
