This car, a 2001 SAAB, 9-5 Aero, turbocharged, had the battery fail of late and sat for 7 months. I found the battery in it with very little water and no voltage. I put 750 ml of distilled water in, trickled charge for several days. Put battery back in car, and car started right up. Had load test on battery with everthing off. With only a starter amp draw the battery was pulling down quickly in voltage. Bought new battery, put in, car started right up. The issue is when car is taken for a drive( a short distance say, five miles) car is shut off, go in and do shopping, come out and car will not start. Wait until morning, come back, put the key in the ignition and the car starts right up. The issue has become to not trust the car. Book shows alternator as a 130 amp alternator, and am afraid it it not doing its job. I have not had the alternator tested since it is in a very tight spot and not enthused about taking off since the exhaust is in the way and requires some removal. Does the alternator sound like a problem here?
