My brake line has broke over the gas tank and I need to try and replace it. How do I do this

I'm not sure what you're asking here. If you want to know if the tank has to be lowered, the answer is yes. Plastic lines cannot be spliced so you have to purchase the line back to it's next connection.

After rereading your post I realize it's not a fuel line you're repairing. Brake lines have too be fabricated and you have to use a double flare at every connection. No compression unions are allowed.
