My windstar just started acting up. It will not take off in drive. I can put it in 1 or 2 and it takes off slowly but when I get it up to 25 mph I can put it in drive and it takes off. What could be the problem?

This sound like the input shaft speed sensor is not working right. Here is its location so you can change it out. Here are diagrams below so you can fix the car.

Check out the diagrams (Below). Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.

Cheers

Hi there,

You may have a slipping transmission or a problem with the torque converter or the transmission oil pump, have you checked for low trans oil? If the oil level is ok, I would be getting a scan done for any unresolved fault codes and getting a line pressure test done as this will give a good indication as to the operation of the transmission, start here.

That means there is a fault code in the transmission control module. Have the TCM scanned and fault trace from there.

Sounds like the transmission is slipping-check fluid level and condition if okay-bring it in for further testing

If drive is still working, there is a chance the reverse band has broken.
