I repaired the check engine light on my Ford Taurus three months ago, result a leaky gas emission cap which I had to pay almost $700 dollars. The comes on again and I am smelling exuast. I went for inspection (NJ) and it failed. Failed were: check engine light-which is indicating pollution control system. Also the MIL Command Status (?) And dash Indicator light with code P0430. It also stated there was a catalyst fault.
What is it I need to repair or do I start looking for a new car?

430 is a catalytic converter code but you need to know all the codes prior to fixing it. Catalyst is about $400-500 for the part not labor.
