2001 Ford Escort SE 2.0 135,000 My car has the Service engine light on. This is th 3rd time in the past few months that this has happened. The first 2 times my friend resetted the light and the Shift Solenoid needed to be fixed. After the 2nd time, I went to Autozone to get the codes. The codes are below. My friend told me to go back to Autozone if the light reappaed. After the 3rd time I went back to Autozone and they gave me code P0761(this is the only code they gave me). The code says "Shift solenoid 3 circuit low input. Voltage at circuit 1223 is below 2-2.5 volts when the 3rd gear actuator is switched off by the ECM". I went to my friend who is a mechanic. He said the transmission has a problem. He recommended that I keep driving car until the transmission dies. And then I replace the transmission so its very expensive. I have a 2001 Ford Escort SE. I think the Shift Solenoid needs replace. Am I correct?
have the same problem?
