I have a 2001 Chevy Impala. It has started using transmission fluid. There is no sign of a leak under the car when sitting. Only when in use. Is this gonna mean a new transmission? Or is there hope?

If it leaks while in use it's got to be going someplace. Youneed to findo ut where. It can be leaking from the radiator as there are cooling lines that go intoit. Best thing is to take to a trans guy andhave him physically look at it. He should be able to spot a leak. It can also be an o-ring leaking as well. It shold be dripping someplace if it's an external leak like an o-ring. Alot of itms the cooling lines get bent or twisted or just plain ol rust wears them through, especially if you are in a northern climate. Either replacing theline or puttin a hose over it to fixeds the problem.
