I got a 2000 GMC 3500 series van, with a 350, 2 bolt starter. Ironicly, both bolts broke at same time. Both were brkoen off inside the block and wouldn't come out with easy outs, in fact the one closest to the block, the easy out broke in the bolt.I drilled the outer hole comletely thru and nut-n-bolted it. That ones fine, the other i've been drilling to possibly re-tap but the bit walked on me and part of the ear of the hole broke. My question is, is there any other solution other than having it welded, or can I use a Heli-coil type system?Mind you that I haven't the money for a welder and I'm doing this with the motor still in the car
have the same problem?
