IF YOU HEAR A LOUD "PING" AND THE ENGINE BEGINS TO RUN REALLY ROUGH, IS THAT THE SIGN OF A BROKEN VALVE SPRING? I have pulled the valve covers and the intake manifold. I can not see any thing that looks wrong. How can you tell if a valve spring is broken?

There won't be as much tension on the valve if a spring is broken. If the check engine light came on, scan the computer for trouble codes.
