I have a 2000 ford explorer ohv vin X 4.6L V6 and while I'm driving it spits and sputters, while at stop light sometimes it acts like it wants to shut off. But once it warms up, it only does it every once in awhile, the fuel milage has droped way low. What could it be?

You may want to check the air filter and have the spark plugs checked out. I had this exact same problem with my 2000 Explorer. Mine was a blown spark plug and after we replaced them all the car ran as good as new.

Check for tune up, check for vacuum leaks, check to make sure the fuel pressure is good, and check to make sure the catalytic converter is good and not plugged.
