Doors not working

We power sliding doors in our Grand Caravan SXT 3.8 V6. The drivers side door does not operate from any switch, it can only be opened manually. The power window on that side does not work either. The power locks will lock and unlock the door on that side.

The passenger power sliding door works completely. I need to figure out where to look for fuses, wiring issues, etc.

The first thing I would do is have the van scan for codes not with a diyer scan tool ether it won't read all the codes door codes etc. It will take a professional scan tool that can read all the codes. There are for codes etc that will give us a starting point.

I posted the description of operation and the trouble tree for the door inop under power. As you can see from the trouble tree the first step is check the door for binding then check for trouble codes.J4 in the fuse diagram is for the drivers door node.

There are a ton of codes for the doors as well as a lot of different reasons for them being inop. That is why getting the codes are so important also most likely you will need a scan tool that can read door data to help diagnose the problem.

When operated electrically the rear door on the driver's side only opens about one foot and then stops. When door is opened all the way and electrically closed it will stop about a foot from being closed. This phenomenon occurs whether the door is opened with remote keyless entry on the FOB, the pushbutton on the overhead console, or the pushbutton on the door post.

This is a very common problem with these vans. Along the bottom of the door is somthing that looks like a black plastic chain but it is actually called the sliding door track wiring. This holds all the wires the go from the body of the van into the sliding door. After many times of opening and closing these wires will break. It works untill it gets to the bend in the wire and then it goes open. Its an easy fix and shouldnt take too long.

The sliding door trim panel can be removed and a pin may have been dislodged. It seems impossible but it is held in mostly by clips that pry out with the panel. With door closed. A handle cover and couple of screws also. It comes off, take off plastic, and use a flashlight to check for a missing long pin, that may have come unhooked from the latch system. Common problem. Ok
There is room, just tight.

Depends where the auto alarm comes into the circuit I would expect. Whatever is before the alarm system is probably where the problem lies-relay, switch?

Shut the drivers side back sliding door now will not open. I checked all mechanical parts seem to be moving correctly. How ould I take the door off while it is shut. I believe the locking mechjenism is bad

First check if the power lock works properly. If it doesn't, the lock motor is broken on the end and is locked up. That will prevent the mechanism from unlatching. Look at the linkages too. They are like a threaded wood screw on the end and they just snap into spring-metal clips, then "magic" holds them in. Sometimes that magic wears off and one pops out. Usually it's the one for the rear latch that comes apart. Chrysler has designed a lot of nice stuff over the years. That latch plate is not one of them.

My vehicle's door is hard to open now that it is winter time again. I have to pull the handle hard to open it. Can I apply grease or oil on the rubber to avoid the door being stuck? Thanks a lot.

I was wondering myself what is the best thing to use for that. I have tried silicone spray but it stuck next wet day/freeze night within a week. Oil might be the ticket maybe baby oil?

My vehicle door is hard to open now that it is winter time again. What is the best lubricant to apply on the rubber seals? Every morning when I open the doors of my vehicle, all the doors are very hard to open or they are stuck especially when the temperature drops below 0 C. Can you recommend something like a lubricant that I can apply on the doors or rubber seals to avoid the doors being stuck? Thanks a lot.

Silicone Spray Lube. You'll find it at the Chrysler dealer's parts department, any auto parts store, or any hardware store. It sprays on liberally like water, evaporates, then leaves a film of "slippery" behind. We use it all the time for sluggish power windows where bug juice, tar, and road dirt get into the rubber channels. I use it once a year on the seat belt webbing on my '88 Grand Caravan when it doesn't want to retract smoothly. It also works REAL well when trying to slide a tight rubber hose onto a metal pipe.
