My engine makes a loud puttering noise.
1999 TOYOTA CAMRY
My engine makes a loud puttering noise especially noticeable when the engine hits 2200–3000 rpm—kind of like a valve noise. What could it be?

Could be a lifter, connecting rod, main bearings or piston. We are here and you are there and we cannot hear it.
