I have a 1999 Honda Civic with a back door that will not open from either inside or out. It does have a child safety switch which could be engaged but it won't open from the outside either. How do I fix this?

You can try and remove any panels on inside to access lock mechanism to check linkage function. You may have to destroy a trim piece and replace it.

Try lubricating internaly outside keyhole and work back and forth. If that dont work, when you get inside panel apart lubricate the lock mechanism and also check for proper adjustment/alignment so it closes/opens easily.
