GMC jimmy 1999 Has climatrol H/AC system with no heat. If I turn up the thermostat all the way to the red dot I get all kinds of heat but if we turn it back to be comfortable it blows cold air. I suspect it is the turner upper but how do I get to it easily?

The temperature is controlled by the use of an air mix door that is operated by an electric motor/actuator. This door can be jammed or the actuator can be inoperative or have stripped plastic gears internally.

It's mounted on top of the HVAC housing and the dash has to be removed to access it.
