engine hesitates/surges when the accelerator is pressed

Could be a number of things ranging from spark plugs/wires to a cap and rotor. Fuel filter or injectors... Is there a check engine light? There could also be a vacuum leak. Bad MAF sensor or TPS sensor all could cause these things.
