1998 Pontiac Grand Am Can't get it to start.

I have a question for a mechanic. I was driving down the road and my 98 Pontiac grand am SE 2.4 liter twin cam, stopped going. The engine just died. All the electrical seems to be working and I have checked the plugs and wires, and the timing chain and gears, it has gas and starting fluid isn't starting it. But, it tries to hit about every other crank. It sounds like it wants to crank up but doesn't. Someone said it could be the coil pack module, but we took the coil pack off and put plugs in it and they all fire.

Have you checked to see if there is spark to the plugs? Is the fuel pressure within the manufacturer's specs? The idea that it won't start with starting fluid leads me to believe there is no spark or at least a very weak one.
