My air conditioner is blowing out hot air but the compressor is ice cold, what could be the problem

The temperature is controlled by the use of an air mix door that is operated by an electric motor/actuator. This door can be jammed or the actuator can be inoperative or have stripped plastic gears internally.

By physically accessing the actuator and look to see if it's working or not.

Would that be making a clicking noise under the dash if it was damaged?
