My daughter's car. She states that about once a week she will be driving with the vehicle operating normally. Suddenly the engine just dies, as if an electrical disconnect, but ALL the dashboard lights are on. She pulls over, turns the key to off, then to on, and it starts up again normally right away. There is no warning, no sluggishness. I put in a new battery. I double-checked the terminal connections and they are tight. It seems an electrical issue, or loose connection somewhere else. If it were the alternator, wouldn't there be consistent, ongoing issues? Apart from this once-a-week thing, car drives fine.

Scan for codes and check fuel pressure first.
