Occasionally, car will not start

Occasionally, car will not start. Interior dome light will make noise as though flashers are on (turning the dome light switch off didn't help). While this is happening, I turn the key and there is nothing. Once the dome light quits ticking like flashers, car will start--no problem. This has happened twice over the last three months. The latest time, I turned the flasher button on and off; when I did that, the dome light quit ticking (coincidence?); About fifteen minutes later, I was able to start the car. So, what's going on?

I would see if you have power to the purple wire at the starter while trying to start it when it won't start.
