MANUAL ENGINE WONT ACCELERATE PROPERLY

I have a 1997 honda civic manual transmission and yesterday while I was driving the engine didnt over heat but the temperature gage was really high and the engine light came on. So I stopped and saw that the radiator hose had completely disconnected. So I got a new clamp and fixed that but now when im driving the car seems to hickup while im going and when I switch to a higher gear it seems to not want to accelerate or catch the gear. For me to get the car to accelerate like normal I have to rev the engine to about 4000rpms. What is wrong with my car, is it the clutch?

It overheated if it blew off the hose.

You may hvae damaged the head gasket from this and you need to get it checked to verify
