I have a 97 lincoln mark 8, the ''low coolant warning '' came on, I added coolant, it over heated. Coolant warning was still on. After over heating I read the manual, removed fill plug and it started to over heat again.

Coolant level ok-check the thermostat, radiator and water pump-other causes could be blown headgasket, cracked head, block and intake leak also air in the system
