I have a 1997 GMC Jimmy with approximately 155,000 miles. Lately (and it seems to happen more so since the weather has gotten cooler) the engine will crank for an extended period of time before starting. I have tried turning the key but not starting the engine to see if it helps, at first it seemed to (for about 2 days) but it's colder since then and I can try 3-4 times cranking the engine for 5-7 seconds each time before it turns over. Also seems I have to pump the gas pedal. Of course after doing that, I can smell fuel, not bad, but just enough to know. Any suggestions that may help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!
