I have a 1997 dodge picup 1500 tranny went on it.I had a garage rebuild it. It didn't last long. He looked for a different one came up with a 2001 model tranny. Now my code reader is giving a 1899 code :manufracture control transmission : the truck stalls after a few miles. Can this tranny work in this truck and what needs to be done to fix the problem?

My listing for 1899 comes up as related to the neutral safety switch.

For intermittent stalling, suspect the crankshaft position sensor. It must be removed when removing the transmission to prevent breaking it, and it must have a thick paper spacer stuck to the end to set the critical air gap when it is reinstalled. I had one cause intermittent stalling after I failed to use that spacer.
