CHEVY TRANSMISSION

I have a 97 Chevy 1500 truck with a 5.7 The truck sometimes looses the gear indicator light and I loose the tack and speedo. At this point I loose full power to the transmission and won't shift into OD. When your turn the truck off it usually resets what ever is going on. Talking to friends they say it is steeling power or going to ground. I have replaced the idler pulley, serpentine belt, battery and altantor. At my wits end. Thanks, Rick

Ok, well the battery and alt had nothing to do with your issue.

If the vehicle speed sensor was malfunctioning, it would explain the sppedo and the no overdrive.

As far as the tach, that may be a bad connection in the cluster.

Both issues require a scan tool that can mintor all the activities.
