How do I remove the button from the rear view mirror so I can re-glue it? I believe it should just slide out, but I have tried prying it out with a screw driver, and I can't budge it. (I didn't use too much force for fear of breaking something.) Is there some mechanism that I have to release before I can slide the button off?

Hello,

The mirror slides upward off of the plate that is glued to the windshield. It is a wedge taper so you may need to gently tap it. There will be a set screw make sure that is removed before you begin.

Here is a diagram (below)
