Been driving for about a week and I noticed a grinding sound near the wheel when I accelerate. When I brake the sound would go away. 2 days ago it went away completely. Driving last night smoke started coming out from the right side under the hood and I had to push down on the brake more than I usually do. Any idea what caused the smoke and brake problem?

Have your brakes and wheel bearing checked on that side it could be either.

Sounds like your brakes pads are worn down to the metal.
Have you brakes inspected.
