Where is it located on my vehicle?

The auto transmission does not have a reverse lamp switch, only the manual. Take a look at the info attached for the back up lamp switch on manual transmissions for the location and wiring info.

If it is an auto transmission then you have a range sensor that is inside the pan on top of the valve body.

However, if you have a reverse light issue we need to check the power coming out of the back up lamp feed from the front control module as I suspect the FCM is the issue.

Transmission problem
2003 Dodge Dakota 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual

I have looked in Haynes manuals and they only mention the switch being on the tranny case. I have looked all over and can't seem to find any switch similiar to the one I just purchased. Any suggestions?

Hi, thanks for the donation. My info shows it is on the tranny. Look at the color of wires, wiring connector, brown wire with lite green tracer and black wire with violet tracer. Manual tranny, nv 3500

I have no backup lights also I put a new reverse switch on still no lights?

Note the diagram.

Check the fuse in the diagram. Not only check the fuse, check for voltage on the fuse circuit. It goes hot with the key on.

At the back lamps, violet wire is voltage. Black wire is ground, check them both. Are the bulbs ok?
