We recently had the fuel pump and filter replaced and now a week later when we pull up to stop while driving the motor almost stops or quits altogether but when you turn the key on again it will start again almost like th car isn't gettin enough gas. The mechanic says the sending unit is the problem. So when they replaced the fuel pump why did it not show up then or could they have messed it up while replacing the fuel pump and filter.

Do you have a check engine light? I don't think its the fuel sending unit-lets try the idle air control valve and also the torque converter clutch solenoid, have it checked out-start here
