96 audi a4 2.8 will not shift into park

Is it stuck in drive or does it shift into gears just not park?? there is a switch on brake pedal that must function in order to shift from park to drive and vise versa.

that brake pedal switch operates a solenoid in shifter assembly. and your question is to vague to come up with an exact answer.
