can a car missfire because timing belt went out ofcycle?its a 1996 a4 person is saying its old gasoline.

It would be very unusual to get a timing belt to move, i would be more inclined to look at tune problems, check the valve timing to be safe, but concentrate on tune items, do a scan as well for unresolved fault codes.
