1993 tracker-i am hearing a tinging noise underneath the tracker. It's hard to be specific as to where by myself. Sounds like underneath in the muffler but when I examine I don't see any holes. Sometimes it sounds like it might be coming from the passenger front tire area. The problem is it only makes this sound while driving and in gear. Doesn't make the noise if idle/coasting and it seems that it might get more frequent as I switch to higher gears, but not when changing but excellerating. I spun it around and turning in either direction didn't make a difference, either did staying straight. It is slowly getting worse and has been going for about a week. Just to help give all the details: I checked all the fluids and that spark plugs were snug. I didn't see any tears or holes or anything underneath. I did have the tire rod replaced about 2 or 3 months ago. I couldn't see anything loose or wrong on visual inspection (course I can't see top of muffler. And muffler seems to be a weak point in the car). Has about 50- to 60,000 miles on the engine. (I replaced it with my tracker parts some years ago). Sometime it almost sounds like a flywheel tinkling or maybe a tiny piece of metal flipping around in there somewhere. Also sometimes if gun it while driving it almost sounds like it knocks it around in where ever the noise is but couldn't get it to be consistant enough to blame the air through muffler. Any ideas? Oh, and no engine lights or anything either.
have the same problem?
