My car die while I was driving it a few days ago. When I cranck it up, it sound like out of fuel, buth the tank is half full. Ever since, I had put a new battery, new fuel filter. I don't think it is the starter, because of the sound it makes(starter sound good). Any help would be appreciated.

If the engine's condition is in tip top shape-do below to determine if its fuel or spark problem that's if its cranking over and refuses to start

Get a carb cleaner and spray into the carb or the throttle body on an EFI. Did it start and die? If not disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine -have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light.

If both fuel and spark is present-check the valve and ignition timing, this will lead you to problems with compression and valves opening and closing at the wrong time

This guide will help us fix it

Hi Gorkys,

If the sound of the starter is too good, then you might have a snapped timing belt.

Hi guys! Just purchased a used 92 Camry LE for my daughter to use and discovered the fuse for the wipers was blown. Replaced the fuse to discover that the wipers will not shut off. This car doesn't have the intermittent feature and both low speed and high speed work fine. Washer fluid button works fine. I suspect all of the control is contained at the motor but does the whole motor need to be replaced or is there a separate control module that can be replaced? Could it be a broken wire or bad ground? Help!

Hello -

Congrats on the new car sorry for the problem already. . .

I don't' think it is the motor. . .I think it may be the switch. . ...and don't forget the relay. . ..that could be stuck too.

Here are a couple of tests for you to do. . ..I will give you the motor too just because. . .. . .

EXCEPT PREVIA

1. Using 12-volt battery, connect jumper wire from positive battery terminal to wiper motor terminal No. 2. See Fig. 3 . Connect another jumper wire between negative battery terminal and wiper motor body or motor ground wire location at mounting bolt hole. Motor should operate at low speed.

2. Remove jumper wire from terminal No. 2. Reconnect jumper wire to wiper motor terminal No. 1. Motor should operate at high speed.

3. Remove jumper wire from terminal No. 1 and reconnect jumper wire to wiper motor terminal No. 2. With motor running at low speed, stop motor at any position except PARK position by disconnecting jumper wire from terminal No. 2. Install another jumper wire between wiper motor terminals No. 2 and 3.

4. Ensure motor body ground is still connected to negative battery terminal. Connect positive battery terminal jumper wire to wiper motor terminal No. 4. Motor should start running and then stop at PARK position. Replace motor if operation is not as described.

FRONT WIPER SWITCH TEST

With wiper switch in specified position, ensure continuity exists between terminals listed. See WIPER SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST table. See Fig. 11 , Replace wiper switch assembly if continuity is not as specified.

Okay not sure if you need it but here is info on wiper switch removal/installation.

FRONT WIPER SWITCH

WARNING: Camry, Celica, MR2, Previa and Supra are equipped with a driver's side air bag, use extreme caution while servicing components on steering column.

Ensure ignition switch is in LOCK position and negative battery cable is disconnected for at least one minute before starting service. DO NOT apply electrical power to any component on steering column without disconnecting air bag control unit. Information labels are attached to air bag components. Follow all notices on labels. Use only DVOM with minimum of 10-k/ohms impedance to check any circuit.

NOTE: Wiper switch is component of combination switch, mounted to steering column. For further information and/or illustrations on removal procedure, see COMBINATION SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article.

(Except Paseo & Tercel)

1. Disconnect negative battery cable. To access combination switch connector, remove instrument panel lower finish panel under steering column. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in INSTRUMENT PANELS article.

2. Remove steering column upper and lower covers. Remove steering wheel. See STEERING WHEEL under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.

3. Locate wiper/washer switch wire terminal positions installed into combination switch harness connector. See Fig. 11 Lift tab locks on combination switch connector.

4. Using miniature screwdriver, release wire terminal securing tab inside connector. See Fig. 20 . Pull wire(s) from connector and through harness jacket tubing. Remove wiper switch retaining screws from rear of combination switch body and remove switch. See Fig. 21 .

Installation (Except Paseo & Tercel)

To install, reverse removal procedure. When installing wiper switch wire terminals to harness connector, push inward on wire terminal until terminal clicks into place.

Thanks guys! The motor checks out. I haven't disassembled the steering column yet to verify the switch but I'm convinced now it is the switch. I did some preliminary checking and wasn't surprised to find it difficult to find one. I did located some on EBay though so I may be in luck. You mention that it could also be a stuck relay. Is that relay part of the motor assembly? I didn't see any relays in any of the fuse blocks labeled for the Wipers. Is it safe to assume that if the motor operates fine according to the test then the relay would also be fine?

Hello -

Well, sorry about that my friend. . .. . .the rear has a wiper relay. . ...not the front - the wiring shows it located on the left quarter panel. . .. . ..when I was going back and forth doing your pics and reviewing the wiring. . ..I opened the rear not the front one time. . .. . .. . .so. . ..no relay for the front. Again, sorry about that.

I agree with you. . ..it is probably the combination switch

Here is the wiring for the front. . ..it may help you out. . .. . .. . ..

No worries. I found the entire combination switch on Ebay for $59 with free shipping and guaranteed to work so I think that's my best and cheapest way out. As soon as I get it and install it I will report back in with the results but I'm betting it will be fine. Until then, thanks a bunch!

Hello -

Thanks..... Yes, please let us know if it all comes together..... Now much to the system as you see with the wiring diagram... Fuse, switch, motor....... As long as you don't have any bad wires you may be in there.......

Also, it looks like you may have some recalls on your vehicle. The dealer may fix these for free. Please contact the dealer service department, give them the VIN number of your car and have them check on these to see if they apply to you.

I have printed them below for you.......

Intially my car would not start, I took it to a repair shop and they replaced the distributor, my car now cuts out when stopping or slowing down, it didn't do this before the distributor was replaced.

Hey there. Just wanted to get back to you as promised. The issue was with the wiper switch. The combination switch I purchased from Ebay finally came in and I had a local garage put it in along with the coil springs the car also needed for an inspection sticker. So, your suspicion was 100% correct! Thanks again. I look forward to getting help from here the next time around!

I took the car back to the guy who installed the distributor, he said everything that he did is fine. This is a different problem (according to him) the car works fine when it is cold, doesnt start stalling until it warms up.

Our 92 camery was driving good, then the last week it started to have problems starting it. When it does start it will only run for a minute or so. It sounds good then it starts to bog, ping and pop then die

This is most likely a fuel system related issue.

Begin by checking fuel pressure with "Key ON, Engine OFF". I should maintain this pressure for at least 15 minutes. If not, then there's a leak in the system that needs to be found.

Then do same check with "Key ON, Engine ON".

The pressure should read between 32-39PSI and not change more than 5PSI between readings.

If pressure drops too much, you probably have a clogged fuel filter.
