Hi! I have a 1992 Ford Ranger. I was driving it and it suddenly slid to a stop like the brakes locked up. I tried starting it because it had died and it wouldn't idle when I had in neutral and the clutch out. I have to keep the clutch in. It wont shift in to gears: 1, 2, or 3 but if I shift it into 4th then it will drive. What's going on here! Is it my transmission or something else? Thanks for your time!

Your trans linkage may have locked up on you. That is inside the trans unles syou can pull your shifter out and look there you may see it.
